The Management Board of Xuan Lien Nature Reserve, Thuong Xuan District, Thanh Hoa has successfully implemented the scientific project "Conservation, exploitation and development of genetic resources of Van Bac orchid, Hairy orchid and daffodils. North Central Region (period 2017-2022)".
Thereby, discovered 210 Van Bac orchids, 1,175 Hairy orchids, 1,265 daffodils in the North Central region.
Deputy Director of Xuan Lien Nature Reserve Do Ngoc Duong said that during the implementation of the project, the Management Board of Xuan Lien Nature Reserve investigated 42 routes with a length of 325.9km in 14 national parks and nature reserve in the North Central region to determine the current status and distribution of these orchids, find solutions to preserve and propagate these precious orchids.
At the same time, 9 technical processes of propagation, planting and care of orchids were built, 3 commercial orchid growing models, 1 original seed garden model with 5,035 plants to provide seed materials for commercial plant production. Products.
Up to this point, the Management Board of Xuan Lien Nature Reserve has propagated 45,320 orchids of 3 species by tissue culture method (30,000 plants/3 species), sprout separation method (15,000 plants/3 species). .
According to the research results of the Management Board of Xuan Lien Nature Reserve, the daffodil ( Dendrobium amabile O'Brien ) has a 35cm long stem, leaves are concentrated at the top of the stem, purple flowers. The tree often grows scattered in large, moisture-loving forests.
The tree regenerates by seed buds, growing from February to August of the solar calendar. Daffodils often grow in bushes in Pu Mat National Park, Xuan Lien Nature Reserve, Bac Huong Hoa Nature Reserve in Thanh Hoa, Quang Tri and Nghe An provinces.
Van Bac orchid ( Paphiopedilum callosum Pfitzer ) or grows on soil, rocks, trees with narrow oval leaves, blooming time from April to June of the calendar. In the world, the tree is distributed in Thailand and Laos.
In Vietnam, the tree usually grows in dense primeval forests or on granite at an altitude of 300-1,300m. Van Bac orchid was discovered growing in Pu Luong Nature Reserve, Vu Quang National Park, Phong Dien Nature Reserve and other areas in Thanh Hoa, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Tri, Quang Binh provinces. , Ha Tinh.
Paphiopedilum hirsutissimum Stein ( Paphiopedilum hirsutissimum Stein ) has 5.2cm long dorsal sepals, large flowers and blooms from March to May of the solar calendar. In the world, the tree is commonly distributed in China and Thailand.
In Vietnam, the tree often grows in primeval forests or in heavily eroded limestone plateaus.
Hairy orchids often develop individually and grow a lot in Pu Luong and Xuan Lien Nature Reserves and in other areas in the provinces of Quang Binh, Quang Tri, and Thua Thien Hue.
These orchids have high economic value, so many people in the provinces have exploited them for sale, plus deforestation has taken place, which has made these orchids less and less in danger of disappearing. gene source.
Currently, these 3 species of orchids only grow very little on limestone cliffs, caves, and mountain slopes in conservation areas and national parks in the North Central provinces, so the successful implementation of the above scientific project has helped. These 3 orchid species are preserved and avoid the danger of species extinction.
